Relative humidity

Instruments being calibrated

• Relative humidity instruments with PC connection and software or display
• Relative humidity instruments with measurement output: current 4–20 mA or voltage 0–10 V

Measurement range and traceability

10% RH to 95% RH in the temperature range –10 °C to 70 °C
• Air temperature measured with a precision thermometer that is traceably calibrated to Justervesenet’s realization of ITS‑90
• Dew point measured with a dew‑point mirror that is traceably calibrated using Justervesenet’s primary dew‑point generator or alternatively traceable to another national laboratory

Measurement uncertainty

Justervesenet’s accepted measurement capability as specified in an international agreement under the Metre Convention.
• In the range 10% RH to 95% RH and –10 °C to 70 °C, the measurement uncertainty is U = 0.4% RH to 1.2% RH

Method

Purified air is used as the medium.

The instrument is calibrated by comparison against a reference dew‑point mirror and a reference thermometer. The instrument to be calibrated is placed in a climate chamber that is regulated for reference temperature and humidity. The calibration is performed by comparing temperature and calculated humidity values from the reference instruments with the values shown by the instrument under calibration.
