Weights

Classified weights

The Norwegian Metrology Service offers measurement of weights in accuracy classes E2 and F2 with masses from 1 mg to 50 kg, and in other accuracy classes (M1, M2, M3 and unclassified) with masses from 1 mg to 3000 kg.

The National Laboratory  at the Norwegian Metrology Service is responsible for carrying out weight calibrations. When weights are calibrated by us, formal requirements for traceability in measurements are met. These may be requirements set in connection with accreditations or certifications up to 500 kg.

The division into accuracy classes is taken from OIML R 111-1 Weights of classes E1, F1, F2, M1, M1-2, M2, M2-3 and M3. This recommendation contains a tolerance table that describes the maximum permissible error, ± deviation from nominal value, that the weights can have. The recommendation also provides many other useful information about weights.

Unclassified weights

Unclassified weights contain weights that are not classified or classified according to a standard other than OIML R 111-1. When calibrating unclassified weights, an evaluation of the condition of the weights is made in relation to the usefulness of calibration and the customers’ wishes. Justervesenet reserves the right to refuse calibration assignments for weights in poor condition and that are not considered suitable.

Mass determination

Justervesenet also performs mass determination of weights in cases where accredited calibration is not desirable or necessary. This can apply to both classified and unclassified weights, such as pound or pressure weights. Justervesenet can also perform mass determination of other objects with similar accuracy.
