Air temperature

Instruments being calibrated

For air‑temperature instruments that are not suitable for calibration in liquid baths.
• Air‑temperature instruments with PC connection and software or display
• Air‑temperature instruments with measurement output: current 4–20 mA or voltage 0–10 V

Measurement range and traceability

Temperature range: –40 °C to 85 °C
• Air temperature measured with a precision thermometer that is traceably calibrated to Justervesenet’s realization of ITS‑90

Measurement uncertainty

The measurement uncertainty is not specified in an international agreement.
• In climate chambers with a temperature range of –40 °C to 85 °C, the measurement uncertainty is approximately 0.2 °C
• In climate chambers with a temperature range of –10 °C to 70 °C, the measurement uncertainty is approximately 0.1 °C

Method

Air is used as the medium.

The instrument is calibrated by comparing it with a reference thermometer. The thermometers are placed in a climate chamber set to a reference temperature, and the readings are compared.
