Dew-point hygrometers / dew-point mirrors

Calibration range

  • –40 °C to 65 °C, calibrated against reference MBW 373HX
  • –75 °C to 20 °C, calibrated against reference MBW DP30SHSX

Our best measurement capability

50 °C to 0 °C -> 0.3 °C

0 °C to 20 °C -> 0.2 °C

Measurement uncertainty

Measurement uncertainty depends on the instrument being calibrated.
The uncertainty is expressed as an interval which, assuming a normal distribution, corresponds to a confidence level of approximately 95% (k = 2).

The Norwegian Metrology Service reports measurement uncertainty in accordance with the method described in “JCGM 100:2008, Evaluation of measurement data – Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement (GUM).

Traceability

Reference dew-point mirrors are calibrated externally at another national laboratory, ensuring traceability to international standards.

Method for measuring dew point

The instrument is calibrated by comparison with a reference. A generated air stream with a defined dew point is directed in parallel over the reference instrument and the instrument being calibrated. The calibration is performed by comparing the dew-point readings of the two instruments.

Results for each test point are given as the mean value of at least ten readings over a 10-minute period, for both increasing and decreasing measurement sequences.

When ordering calibration, the customer must specify the dew point or the temperature and relative humidity at which the instrument is to be calibrated.
