Other metrological services

Justervesenet has high expertise in metrology, traceability, and measurement uncertainty, and can therefore take on assignments involving various metrological and regulatory issues related to measurement.

We can, among other things, assist in developing guidelines that can be used in metrological services. This may be relevant for authorities or other decision‑makers who need a standardized metrological service that is trusted by third parties.

Metrological assistance

Examination of instruments

Through calibration, the accuracy of an instrument is assessed. Calibration is performed under certain reference conditions to provide results with the lowest possible measurement uncertainty.

Knowing the instrument’s properties under reference conditions only covers part of a user’s needs. Since instruments are often used under varying conditions, it is also necessary to understand their properties in actual use situations. This knowledge, particularly where accurate measurements are critical, may go beyond the information provided by the supplier.

We offer investigations of an instrument’s sensitivity, for example to temperature or humidity.

Metrological control – Focused on how you use the instrument

You can think of it as a simple health check for a measuring instrument. We test the instrument within the measurement range and for the intended use you require, and prepare a report summarizing our findings and recommended actions. You can then decide whether you want an agreement for annual follow‑up.

Tailored measurement tasks

As the national metrology authority, Justervesenet has extensive expertise and long experience in solving metrological challenges. Feel free to contact us, and we will find a solution tailored to your organisation.

Why?

Accurate measurements are essential for quality, finances, and reputation. Many organisations need both equipment and metrological expertise, but few suppliers offer this combination.

Services from Justervesenet can strengthen your internal control and document compliance with internal and external requirements. At the same time, you gain better insight into — and control over — the performance of your measuring instruments and measurement systems. Altogether, this helps build trust in measurements.

We adapt to your needs

The Norwegian Metrology Service also aims to contribute with knowledge transfer in various areas related to measurement. This may involve specific metrological challenges or more general competence needs related to metrological assessments. We welcome input on needs for new calibration services and training courses.
