Since August 2009, the Norwegian Metrology Service has had a climate chamber designed to meet the most common IEC standards for testing under varying environmental conditions. The climate chamber is particularly useful for those requiring type approval or climate testing of electronic equipment. Measuring equipment used in metrology must meet requirements set by international standards. This is essential in order to place products on the market.
The chamber is an ACS Wazzle WZH30 B2 SP, a so-called walk-in chamber, large enough to enter in order to prepare equipment for testing. It can be regulated in temperature from –40 °C to +80 °C, and in humidity from 10–98% RH for temperatures above 0 °C.
The chamber has a volume of about 30 m³; it is 2.50 m high, 3.25 m wide and 3.60 m long. A forklift can be driven all the way up to the chamber, and the door is 2 × 2 meters. This makes it possible to place large and heavy equipment inside.
