Met4H2

This project aims to establish metrological standards for the entire hydrogen supply chain, including production, storage and distribution, to ensure accurate and reliable measurements in the hydrogen industry.

Metrology for the hydrogen supply chain

The introduction of hydrogen is seen as a cornerstone of decarbonisation, replacing fossil fuels in power generation, transport, industry and the built environment.

Met4H2 stands for Metrology for the Hydrogen Supply Chain. The overall goal of the project is to develop and integrate the metrology needed to support the entire hydrogen supply chain, from production to storage and end use.

About the project

The project focuses on flow measurement and calibration of instruments used in the hydrogen and hydrogen–natural gas mixture supply chains.

What is the need for metrology, measurement and calibration in the transport of hydrogen gas?

This will be the focus of the project group over the next three years. The Norwegian Metrology Service (JV) leads Work Package #2 → collecting and analysing data on flow measurement of hydrogen gas, liquid hydrogen, and hydrogen mixed with natural gas.
