Control on request

In some cases, enterprises may require a neutral third party to document that their measuring instruments comply with requirements. When capacity allows, the Norwegian Metrology Service can carry out such controls by performing an in-use verification and issuing documentation. In special cases, we may test according to non-standardised methods, but this will be assessed individually before implementation.

The Norwegian Metrology Service has equipment and expertise

In some situations, enterprises may lack equipment and metrological competence themselves, and wish to bring in a neutral third party to document that their measuring instruments meet the necessary requirements. In a market where there is a shortage of accredited companies offering such services in the field, the Norwegian Metrology Service can perform this, provided we have the capacity.

Examples of assignments

  • Measurement at tank facilities
  • Measurement in industry
  • Testing of weighbridges

What does control on request involve?

Most often, control on request involves an in-use verification. This means that a test is carried out and documentation issued confirming that the measuring instrument complies with the relevant standard. Exceptionally, testing according to non-standardised methods may be agreed. This must be assessed in each individual case. It is important that, before carrying out control on request, the scope of testing is clarified.

These are assignments carried out by the Norwegian Metrology Service on order, and we will therefore request acceptance of the cost estimate before the assignment is confirmed.
